Amal Clooney Receives The Star-Wife Tag. Bravo! NOT!

  •  September 19, 2015

Remember just the other day we were talking about the ‘star-wife’ tag that Twinkle Khanna was endowed with?

Apparently, a similar incidence happened overseas too! And guess who is at the radar there? The internationally celebrated and famed lawyer, Amal Clooney, whose résumé weighs nearly as much as hulk! But certain people choose to identify her as actor George Clooney’s wife first.

Okay. That’s valid if you do not know much about Amal Clooney. Accepted. But what’s the deal with accrediting her professional achievements to her husband’s stardom? That’s a new level of non-sense altogether, given her 15-year career in international law as compared to her year old marriage to the renowned actor.

“I’m sure she gets such high-profile cases and everyone wants her because she’s married to George Clooney. And by employing her they’ll give publicity to their case,’ said justice minister Edward Faulks QC.

Somebody hand over Amal’s list of qualifications and achievements to this guy already! *Exasperated*

While this was happening, Geoffrey Robertson QC, an equally renowned human rights barrister and the head of Doughty Street Chambers, where Clooney practices, commented:

“It was because of her conspicuous ability as an international lawyer that the Attorney-General appointed her in 2013 – before her marriage – to serve on his panel of experts to advise and represent this country.” He also said that Amal often acts in low-profile cases and on a pro-bono basis too.

Dear justice minister, listening are you?

Please don’t be surprised with the upsurge of criticism that’s coming your way these days. Your rather sexist remark has caused it all. #JustSaying
