From this Independence Day on-wards, we will ask Jaipur women what Financial Independence means to them.
Anju Jaideep is the HOD of English Dept., MGD School, Jaipur. We wanted to know who the Boss of Bucks at home is.
Another is Dr. Shalini Gupta, reputed Anaesthetist and mother of two. We’ve conducted a brief financial heath check-up for Dr. Shalini’s views on financial independence of women.
Let us see what these women have to say:
JWB: What is financial independence for you?
Anju Jaideep: You are allowed to spend what you earn, the way you want.
Dr. Shalini Gupta: Self earning and spending without anyone’s permission.
JWB: Who is the budget minister at your home?
Anju Jaideep: Me.
Dr. Shalini Gupta: My Husband. Though most of our decisions are joint but somewhere I feel he has the better financial insight than me.
JWB: What’s the lioness (your) share in it? How much do you keep for yourself from your earnings?
Anju Jaideep: The ratio is of 70-30 that is my husband’s contribution is 70% and I add the later 30%. It’s all mine so I don’t need to keep anything for myself. It’s going great.
Dr. Shalini Gupta: Our planning is almost common. We earn together, we spend together and attain happiness with each other’s joys.
JWB: And how do you splurge your savings?
Anju Jaideep: I love to spend on my kid, and I spend most of my salary in attaining higher degrees like my PhD, M. Phil.
Dr. Shalini Gupta: I love to spend on everyone in my family and almost everything like tourism, household items, kids and similar things.
JWB: Good days have come/gone/waiting?
Anju Jaideep: They are always there. All the days are good; I am enjoying good times right now.
Dr. Shalini Gupta: If earning well, then all days are good, as income of normal man has also increased along with increase in prices of commodities.
JWB: Tell us frankly, who is a better finance minister – man or woman?
Anju Jaideep: Definitely Women.
Dr. Shalini Gupta: Women. Since they know how to spend and how much to be saved for the future as compared to male counterparts. They prevent undue wastage of money and use it for the proper place.
JWB: Lastly, any secrets for the savings this year?
Anju Jaideep: No secrets. You just have to be wise.
Dr. Shalini Gupta: I’ve already spent my savings on my home renovation.
