Keira Knightley: “My body is totally amazing, because it did this, and this is fucking extraordinary.”

We have found another reason to love Keira Knightley, the renowned English actress who began her acting career at the tender age of ten, and grew up to be the gorgeous diva, as we know her. She very recently became a mother by giving birth to an adorable baby girl, Edie, three months ago.

“I have to say, as a woman, you hate certain parts of your body. You go through those periods where you look in the mirror and you think, ‘Oh, if only I had different legs or arms or whatever,'” says Keira.

In an interview with the Elle magazine, of which she is the cover for the September issue, she talked about the changes and anxiety that come along as a part and parcel of entering motherhood. And we absolutely love her retort!

“You go through pregnancy and labor and then feeding the kid and you go, ‘Wow, my body is totally amazing, and I’m never going to not like it again, because it did this, and this is f—g extraordinary.”

There is no doubt that we women are secretly superheroes capable of creating miracles. All you women out there who hide and shy away from your stretch marks and your post-pregnancy body, this thought is what you should keep in mind.

Keira continues, “The love thing is astonishing. It’s a very primal, primal love. That’s quite extraordinary. And the ability to have no sleep and continue going. It’s not pleasant — I never thought that I could actually do it for the amount of time that I’ve done it.”

Besides giving insights into her edifying experience of motherhood, she also referred to the insecurities that she was plagued with in her teenage years despite the splendid feat that her career was at!

“I was very shy. It took me a lot of years to try and stop pleasing a lot of people and allow myself to have fun. It’s the difficult thing of getting out of your own head. To stop going, ‘Oh, there’s something I should be doing, there’s a way I should be behaving, I should be dressing…’ All of those ‘shoulds,’ you can drown in them.”

Dear Keira, Team JWB here is blowing out kisses and hugs to you for your righteous and self-loving body image! Ladies, steal her thoughts and embrace your own skin, the right way!
