At 7:00 in the morning of 8th March 2014, on the International Women’s Day, successful women entrepreneurs from across Jaipur came together with Flag Bearer of Vital Voices Archana Surana (Director, Arch Academy of Design) to walk towards new victorious destinations.
The “Global Mentoring Walk”, initiated by Vital Voices, is an innovative thought to bring established women leaders and budding entrepreneurs together as Mentors and Mentees while they are going for a Morning walk. They talk over issues for overcoming personal and professional hurdles. Through building mentor and mentee relationships, they open up to the life’s new perspectives and feel empowered to gain success in the selected spheres of life.
Dr. Lad Kumari Jain was the Chief Guest of this “Global Mentoring Walk” along with Dr. Pawan Surana (President RUWA). Governor of Rajasthan Mrs. Margret Alva wished all the participants of this walk through her Letter which filled the participants with new zest.
The Walk saw all the Mentors and Mentees engrossed in exploring themselves. The new relationships of mentor-mentee radiated great vibes. And when asked what their experience was like, while walking on the greens of Central Park and meeting each other, here’s what they told us:
Mentor Shalini Rajvanshi, who is an established and well-known Charted Accountant told JWB : “I feel great with a Mentee who is so young. It made me feel younger, more energetic and I learned a lot from her too.”
Her Mentee Neeti Jain who is a budding HR professional says: “It was a very different soundboard, she is like a mother but a successful professional, and she guided me to move on, but in a more goal-specific manner.”
We also talked to another Mentor-Mentee Couple: Mentor Deepika Agarwal and Mentee Gazal Roongta (Student).
According to Deepika, “The experience of this Walk is Awesome. I have been a part of it since its conception and every time I go back, feeling I have Given and Learned, feeling fulfilled by giving something back to the Future Generations.”
Gazal said, “I came with an open mind. I feel refreshed, excited and filled with enthusiasm. I am still looking forward to meeting my Mentor, whenever I feel I need someone to talk to.”
This enriching, inspiring, motivating walk reached its Grand Finale by 9:00 AM and was followed by breakfast at Tapri, the Tea House.
And there was another empowering feeling that made all women believe in their potential! It was the fact that they walked simultaneously with women from 42 countries all over the world celebrating Womanhood, Success and the New bonds of Mentoring!
