Photo Story: Same Gender Lovers Emerge Out Of The Closet

Oh. My. God. I am in absolute awe of this powerful photo story by LA-based photographer Arjun Kamath.
I can’t help but exclaim how aptly it exemplifies the renowned adage ‘A picture is worth a thousand words.’
But you know what’s even more remarkable… the fact that this photo story provides solace to the vexed hearts of people who have undergone, or are undergoing a similar distress as shown in the pictures.
Titled as the ‘Coming Out’ series, these pictures beautifully depict the tragic separation that comes the way of two women lovers.
“I am not a social activist. I am an artist and my primary aim was to create beautiful images around an important issue that had some resonance for the world. I wanted the photos to have a soul. I have some gay friends who feel suffocated at having to hide and I wanted to address that; this is why I literalised the metaphorical close,” said Arjun.
The world is a blissful place when you are with the one you love. So is the case in these pictures. But the two madly-in-love women failed to realize that the society did not see them as blissful. It saw them as anything but blissful. A disgrace, to say!
Why else would it shut them? Why else would it try to send them back to where they came from and burn the closet forever?
Disguised in the red veil, the society comes chasing such people of the LGBTQ community with its supposedly ‘white’ hands, which, my friends, is nothing but a bluff.
