Hello, everyone! Thank you for all the support towards our social campaign ‘Classroom on Wheels’ in association with Social Entrepreneur Mr. Sudhir Mathur. As you know, we’ve got a team of 10 well-known designers who are creating masterpieces out of old school bags that will later be sold in an event on October 11.
The generated sales will contribute towards an after-school educational plan meant for underprivileged children from Jaipur. Let’s see what fashion designer Swati Ubroi is creating from the bag we handed her over few days back!
My name is Mr. Jute and I am a school bag. Actually, an old school bag.
Let me tell you my story. One day I found myself hanging in a shop before landing into an 11-year-old boy’s room. Life seemed bright and promising. Together we went to school every day. Like a true friend, I would always hide his secrets (superman stickers, video games) from teachers. This went on for 4-5 years until one day, when his family thought that I am too small for him. After that, I was thrown all alone in a dark store-room. I can’t even describe the horror of living amidst those spiders.
Thankfully, God heard my plight and sent few people from JWB to this house. What happened next changed my life forever. Team JWB took me somewhere, and when I looked around, I could see lots of colorful things. It was fashion designer Swati Ubroi’s house.
I am not afraid to go under the knife and scissors. I completely understand, it is for my beautification. Moreover, I have overheard Team JWB telling Swati that this makeover is for a good cause – education of poor kids living in Jaipur’s slum areas.
Can you see in these pictures how she’s going to add some extra cloth to me so that I don’t look dull anymore? Psst, after all these years, I have lost the shine in my personality. Swati’s neon fabric will definitely lift my look up!
The process of making the ‘new-me’ is still going on. Swati has said that she could make not just one but few Potli-bags out of me! What a moment it would be when I will get to hand around the wrists of some chic Jaipur women during parties & weddings! Woohoo!!
Swati is going to unveil me at the ‘Classroom on Wheels’ event happening on October 11 at Spice Court, Jacob Road, Civil Lines, 3:30 p.m. Please do come to meet me! I am sure; some of you might want to take me home. The money that you’ll buy me for will help JWB hire a teacher and rent a mobile mini-van to help school-going slum kids in studies after school.
