सर्द हवाओ के साथ किस्से , कहानी , कविता और संगीत का अनूठा  संगम

The Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) hosts over 240 authors for five days of debate and discussion from fiction to biography and history to music. This year the festival will have special sessions on crime and punishment, democracy, women and endangered languages. The first day, after inauguration by Governor Margaret Alva, the key note address was presented by Amartya Sen. He is an Indian economist and a Nobel laureate.

“You might not expect this coming from me, but I wish for a strong, flourishing right wing party that is secular and not communal. I think there is an important role for a pro-market pro-business party that doesn’t depend on religion,” said Sen.

In some other session Ganesh N. and Shekhar Pathak argued in conversation with Malashree Lal on the fact that each language has a unique worldwide significance and it manifests the memory transaction of its speakers.

Irrfan Khan was the main attraction of the Day One. He spoke vibrantly about Rajasthani Writer Late Shree Vijaydan Detha.

From Nobel Laureate Dr Amartya Sen to sociologist Dipankar Gupta and even 80-year-old writer Ved Mehta, everyone offered their opinion on India’s political future. “So many of the things we now take for granted – such as rights of women and the minority, abolition of child marriages and widow remarriage – were made possible only because some of our citizen elite took up these issues,” said Dipankar Gupta.

Fifteen countries and 20 languages will be represented at the festival which has become the most popular fair happening in Rajasthan within a short span of seven years.

Kutle Khan project is a unique collective of Rajasthani folk musicians. They are multi-talented folk musicians who perform on various stages across the world. Kutle Khan rocked the stage during the first day evening at the festival.

Extending the folk theme internationally, acclaimed Colleena Shakti, a dancer of great sensuous subtlety, performed for visitors.

The audience rocked with extraordinary talent of Queen Harish, the dancing whirling queen of the Desert of India.
