She Lost Her Leg But Not The Dream To Dance

Alissa Sizemore is just 8 yrs old; and this February she solo performed her 1st dance after she lost her right leg in a terrible accident last year.
Alissa lives in Utah where the people in her community raised funds to cover up her operation charges. Soon after the hospital, she secretly began rehearsing simple dance moves because she was very determined to pursue her passion. She says:
Check out her beautiful dance where at one point she reaches down to remove her prosthetic leg to finish up the remaining ballad dance:
“It was real hard losing my leg, because I love music and dancing so much. Everybody came together to get me dancing again. All of the teachers helped me and I knew there was no way I was going to give up. I love all of my teachers and I love that I can dance again.”
Her mother says:
“The way she gets dressed, the way she takes a bath, the way she gets up and down stairs – all of that changed overnight. With the new leg, she wondered why she couldn’t wiggle her toes anymore. And she wondered about painting her toenails. She was worried she wouldn’t be able to be a part of our girl’s day, where I take the girls out to get manicures and pedicures.”
If this doesn’t bring tears in our eyes, we don’t know what will. Team JWB wishes the little girl all the very best and want to tell her how much we’re proud of her!
