When the burlesque performer Lillian Bustle speaks, you listen. She spoke during a recent TEDxJersey City talk about body image and women body types explaining how the word ‘fat’ has become synonymous with ‘ugly’.
This new ‘terrible’ perception is not only spreading a wrong message in the society but also hurting many women’s sentiments.
I’m 5’3″, so I call myself short. I’m married, so I call myself a wife. I weigh 240lbs, so I call myself fat. And I am beautiful, so I call myself beautiful. And I am all of those things at once. You get to decide that you’re gorgeous. You get to decide that you’re powerful. You get to decide that you’re amazing. And you get to decide that you’re worth looking at.
She explained, how with the help of such thinking process, she has been able to love herself and empower her audience too! Watch the video:
JWB says – No matter what your body type or skin color is, make sure you embrace it that way.
Dear women, tell us what kind of relationship you share with your body? Have you labeled it – short, fat, dark, etc?
