Random encounters and incidences have a way of popping up unexpectedly in our lives. Some of us shrug them off and go about our daily chores, while for some others, they become lifetime memories!
Brooklyn Sherman, a twenty-something of Los Angeles, is covering one such memory-of-a-lifetime on her Instagram account: “The Way We Met”, which has gained more than 168 k followers within mere four weeks of its inception.
I follow her too! I am a tiny part of this impressive number!
Getting back to the point, Brooklyn Sherman features the ‘How we met’ stories of couples who met in authentic ways, face-to-face.
"I met my boyfriend in 2009 while I was working as a part-time cashier at Walmart. One night before leaving, I offered to cover another cashier's check out lane during her fifteen minute break. I suppose the world was on my side in that moment because Calvin just happened to be one of my customers. Six years, two dogs, a house, and a million memories later, I've never been more thankful for my decision to "check out" Calvin that evening in Lane 29."
“If you notice, the majority of my stories are not couples who have met through online dating. I share stories about couples out in the world doing random things, and the universe brings them together in random ways. I hope this encourages other single people to get out and start experiencing life again instead of behind their computers,” says Brooklyn.
I can’t resist exclaiming how ironic the situation is! Asking people to get off computers and mobile phones through social media! To this she responds, that she is trying to get the message out in the world in any way she can.
"I met my boyfriend on Halloween while I was walking down the street with a bunch of friends. I heard someone yelling the name of my costume and when I turned around, I saw him driving. He stopped the car and caused a huge traffic jam just to take my phone number. A month later I moved into his apartment. We've now been together for six years."
Besides the hundreds of submissions that she receives via mail, there come some unusual ones, every once in a while.
“People email me and tell me that they had given up on love until they started following my account and honestly hearing that, and knowing I’m making a positive difference in people’s lives is all I need to hear for all of this to be worth it.”
“I met my now fiancé at a YouTube event in Florida where we became good friends. A year or so passed and we saw each other again at another YouTube convention where I sarcastically told him to date me. He ended up taking it seriously! Last June he proposed to me on stage at yet ANOTHER YouTube event and now we are getting married in October. All of this because of our mutual love for uploading to YouTube!”
This woman is a hopeless romantic! And she wants to share her obsession for love stories with the world. And she wants to shine rays of hope on the ones who have given up on love. And she believes in the spontaneity that your next moment holds.
Well, if nothing else, the stories on her page are sure to bring a smile on your face, and some spark of magic in your heart!
All hail! Let there be love!
