Why Do Sanitary Pad Commercials Use Blue Liquid Instead Of Red?

Something that I saw today has made me question my wits. I mean, seriously! Why didn’t the inhuman treatment of women by advertising agencies strike me before? And by inhuman, I don’t mean a cruel or brutal treatment. I mean the word literally.

These advertising folks have been treating us women like Octopuses! Oh oh! And they’ve been treating us like ‘India’! Bros, please note. We women DON’T BLEED BLUE. Our blood is RED. Laal. Rouge. Rojo. Register that, please!

And in case you still haven’t understood what I’m talking about, go YouTube any sanitary napkin commercial. I’ve been seeing that creepy blue liquid from times immemorial when I didn’t even know what menstruation was! And it is today that I’ve been enlightened by watching this true-to-life sanitary pad commercial from UCB Comedy.

Caution: Proceed at your own risk. There are promising chances of you all finding this video utterly gross.

“Fem-care advertising is so sterilized and so removed from what a period is. You never see a bathroom, you never see a woman using a product. They never show someone having cramps or her face breaking out or tearful — it’s always happy, playful, sporty women,” says Elissa Stein, co-author of the book Flow: The Cultural Store of Menstruation to the New York Times in 2010.

Yes Elissa, what a sanitary napkin commercial shows is nothing but Utopia! Crazy is the world we live in!
