Are you still stuck on the to-do list? Uff. Thank me with a box of Belgium chocolates for I am bringing to you some decor tips from Geetanjali Kasliwal, Director, Anantaya Decor.
This year, Geetanjali was seen hosting many creative campaigns at her store, and by the time she realized it’s mid-October, Diwali knocked at her door. Luckily, she knew how to deal with it.
“The first thing I could think of was the wallpapers. The creative motifs available in the market this fashion season are driving me crazy. Plus, putting them up doesn’t take long either,” says Geetanjali.
She added that it is the metallic tone which is in these days and hence, she’s ended up combining blue with metallic gold at her home.
So what else can come to our rescue 24 hours before Diwali? She answers, “Give a little makeover to the center table. The guests sit in the living room, and this table is always under scrutinization. To change its old look, bring in a statement centerpiece. Make sure it’s not just a showpiece but a utility product!”
For example, it can be a serve ware/ashtray in an animal or nature’s motif.
If you are getting rid of your cushion covers, buy the local block prints, suggests Geetanjali. “Either solid colors or Jaipuri block-prints. Same could be done with the curtains.”
And the last decor tip from Geetanjali is my favorite. “Play with lights!” She remarks, “Most of us have a ceiling or high wall lamp/bulbs that light up the ceiling more than the floor. This Diwali, you can divide the brightness equally. Shop a chic Pendant Lamp or floor lamp with a long neck and put it in the living or dining hall. In the garden, you can put lamps hanging from the porch ceiling along with guard lights on the floor.”
Awesome tips, right? You’re welcome!
