Feminist Tour Guide
Built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799, the walls of Hawa Mahal tell the evolving history of women. Why did women peek from behind the tiny windows that mark the iconic stature of the building today? Why did they observe a veil? The history of Hawa Mahal will be looked upon through a feminist lens which unveils the story from her eyes.
This campaign is an initiative by Jaipur Women Blog in association with 94.3 MY FM. The excursion takes place on Saturday, 26 September, 2015. MY FM RJ and Storyteller Mrs. Sharma will play the role of the guide in the tour. Children from The Palace School and many inspirational women from Jaipur will be the tourists for the event. Together with them, we will launch a Feminist Audio Guide, which will be inculcated into the Audio Book collection of the heritage authorities of Hawa Mahal.
