Q1. I have been married for six years now. I feel a lot of pain during sex, and so I have started avoiding it. Does it happen to every girl? What could be the reason?
Dr. Vinita: Experiencing pain during your first few sexual intercourse sessions is normal. But, it’s clear that you have been having sex for a long time now. You may be suffering from ‘Vaginismus’, a physical or psychological condition that makes sexual encounter painful for the woman. The reason can be asserted only after examination and must be treated.
Q2. Will too much sex stretch out of my vagina?
Dr. Vinita: After years and with age, it may get loosened up a bit. We advise all the females to practice Kegel Exercises after marriage. It makes your vagina strong and keeps it tight. At Vivan Hospital too, one can learn Kegel Exercises.
Q3. I feel lethargic after sex, but my husband insists I wash my vaginal area. Is it necessary to pee and clean every time I have sex?
Dr. Vinita: No, the vagina is a self-cleaning organ. So, it is not compulsory to wash it each time after sex. In fact, if the woman is trying to conceive, we recommend not cleaning it or pee.
Q4. I am pregnant. Is it safe to have sex? If yes, are there any positions I should avoid?
Dr. Vinita: Of course, it’s safe. Pregnant women can have sex until their eight months. You should avoid the positions in which you feel uncomfortable or strain on the stomach.

Dr. Vinita: V-moist is a safe lubricant. Always use water-based gel lubricants. And, avoid using Vaseline or any oil for lubrication as they are not effective much and may get dry after a while.
