Every Woman Has A Love-Hate Relationship With Aunt Flo

So would you be the one to be happy to see aunt FLO or rather ‘welcome’ her sulkily? Well, it totally depends on the situation! Wondering who is aunt FLO? Here’s a hint. Aunt FLO is the one whom you first get to see as you step into puberty and since then, right up to menopause, she remains your constant companion.

Ok, enough riddles. Aunt FLO is the name given to periods by women’s health website HelloFLO, which is famous for its cheeky videos featuring the smiling aunt FLO.

“Some consider me as a gift while some as a curse,” says aunt FLO in a new video that depicts how the reactions to periods range from relief to being annoyed.

That’s why we see in the video that an apparently not-so-happy couple alarmed because aunt FLO (periods) is six days late for the lady (yup, unwanted pregnancies could be nightmarish). And then their expressions turn to relief when finally aunt FLO arrives at their doorstep.

Oh and then we see a girl on the brink of adolescence who is waiting eagerly for her periods and is apparently heartbroken when even after she spots aunt FLO, the latter breaks the news that she has come to meet her elder sister.

The video quite hilariously yet efficiently depicts the time of periods in every woman’s life. We also get to see aunt FLO finally bidding adieu to an elderly woman because of menopause. The conversations between them are bittersweet, and both of them speak about the many memories that have of each other.

In a country where sanitary napkins are still wrapped in black bags before they are sold, this video surely could be a leap towards better awareness about periods, especially after a hush-hush attitude towards menstruation?

The actress playing the role of aunt FLO is nothing short of excellent and gives a stellar performance. BTW (spoiler alert) don’t miss that part when aunt FLO does not feel welcome, as she decides to arrive just when a couple is about to make out in a car.
