Plus-Size Woman Gives A Body Shaming Clothing Ad The Response It Deserves

Take the case of the shopping site called “Wish”, which chose to advertise “Big Size Plus Size XXXL/XXXXXL Ladies Wadded Autumn Winter Shorts Skinny Leggings” by asking a zero-size model to fit both her legs into one leg of the shorts.

Ashman, the designer behind , saw the ad in a story from HelloGiggles, which described the image as an “incredibly cruel way to model plus-size shorts,” and decided to post a response to Facebook in the form of a perfect photo and two middle fingers.

“I don’t have any formal qualifications in marketing, but if plus size ladies buy shorts based on how one leg looks on a whole petite woman, then maybe smaller ladies will buy skirts based on how the whole thing looks on one pretty thunderous thigh,” she wrote in the caption.

Ashman told The Huffington Post she found the ad, which is similar to online retailer Herry He’s Store ad from last year, “really insulting to plus-size women everywhere” and had an important message for companies that promote body-shaming as well as consumers.

“I just think it’s important to not let the media and fashion brands bully people into thinking they aren’t good enough — for whatever reason,” she said. “People should love their bodies, however, big or small.”

Fellas, it’s time to be more sensitive towards body-shaming and body sizes. Remind yourself that your body is perfect and beautiful the way it is. #LoveYourself
