“Ab to shaadi ho gayi hai na.”

“Who gets pregnant in one shot?”

Do the words sound familiar? Oh, these are some of the most common excuses which women have to hear behind closed doors from their husbands, who are reluctant to put on a condom.

In a video created by icanhelp.in, which is an online platform to help women with reproductive issues, one can see that how men completely disregard the dangers of not using contraceptive with these silly excuses.

In the video, we see women from everyday life lip-synching to some of the most frequent words used by their spouses when it comes to saying no to safe sex.

Well, it’s about time that women too have an equal say when it comes to intercourse and emphasize on the need for safe sex.

What is indeed disturbing is that the men in the video can be heard casually saying that although they have problems with contraception, it is taken for granted that the women would have no qualms about taking birth control pills on the next morning. The women seen in the video are from different demographics. Some are housewives while some work in the corporate world but their problems are the same.

And rightly so! If we talk about gender equality and how women should have the same saying as men, how come it is most often what is preached is not practiced when it comes to sexual liaisons? Isn’t it also another form of domination and sense of male superiority when he says “I don’t need a condom because it will mar the pleasure for me,” but the same is not applicable to his wife. And this happens even after almost everyone is aware of the many downsides of unsafe sex.

If you want to act like a ‘man’, then it’s about time that you grow up and learn to be responsible!
