This Father’s Message To His Daughter Will Bring Tears To Your Eyes

Gender roles have been stereotyped forever. While they are growing up, a man knows what is his role in the society, especially when it comes to playing the ‘businessman’, ‘being busy reading the newspaper’, while the woman cleans up the house, takes care of the child, manages daily groceries, cooks food, and in most cases, manages her career.

This advertisement brought tears to my eyes, because believe it or not, this is the story of almost every house. Men and women play roles that have been pre-defined for them by the society.

This advertisement, created by Ariel, tells all husbands to #ShareTheLoad. I know some husbands who share the load. Remember how charity begins at home?

“Your child will follow your example, not your advice. Through the heartwarming message, this advertisement encourages all men to ‘haath bataao’ in the work they think is meant for only their wives.

“Your child will follow your example, not your advice.” – Author Unknown For a while now, Ariel India has been running campaigns to encourage a dialogue about gender roles and stereotypes, with the intent of creating a gender neutral society. As a part of their Share The Load campaign, they tied up with the designer Masaba Gupta, and put these labels on the clothes designed by her, encouraging men to contribute to the chore of laundry. And now, as a part of their new campaign, this heartfelt apology from a Dad to his daughter sheds light on exactly where and how these gender stereotypes are developed.
