A Woman Can Now Be The “Karta” Of A Family. Do You Agree?

The Delhi High Court just ruled out that the eldest daughter of a HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) can now be the “Karta” or decision maker of the family. While we usually consider men for the role, the court sees no reason why women shouldn’t.

In the court order, Justice Waziri said that the law gave “equal rights of inheritance to Hindu males and females, its objective is to recognise the rights of female Hindus and to enhance their rights to equality apropos succession.”
