JWB EATS: Bag Your Rag And Fill Your Dil At This Boutique Cafe

While Komal, Jayati and I were running late for a girls’ eat out, Lavanya and Sanchit had already met up with the Team of Bag Your Rag-The Café Boutique. Also, I should mention that this was my very first “hog” outing with the girls, and I was excited AF.

To say the least, I had amazing food yesterday (#Cheat day). Excuse me while I go wipe the drool off my face. Nobody tells ‘me’ dietician. (Wow, that sounded oddly Irish).

Although I was dressed well (unlike my usual casual-at-work look), it all went down the drain because Sanchit was hell-bent on clicking super embarrassing pictures of us devouring the food.

Whoever said that the camera adds ten pounds was lying. It adds twenty pounds. (‘-____-)

So, at first I had no idea that Bag Your Rag was a boutique and café, but when I got there, I honestly thought that it was super-aesthetically appealing. The team of Bag-Your-Rag. were three men and a pretty lady. What I found out was that two of the team members, Priya and Varun were siblings. While Priya was working on designing clothes, Varun was coming up with recipes to add to the menu. The other two members were Vatsal and Ronak. Vatsal takes care of PR and communication while Ronak handles the finance and accounts.

Also, the interiors of the place were amazeballs. Chairs with pedals and tables with vintage sewing machines, like OMG! Also, a beautiful motorcycle rests in the centre.

I sat down on an extremely soft and comfy couch chair constantly fighting my urge to put my feet up. Drishti, relax and sit like a normal human being in a public place.

Lovy and I had a look at the menu while Komal was trying to figure out where she had seen Priya. Apparently, they were old tuition mates. What are the odds?

While we waited for the food, Lavanya was busy fangirling over the clothes at the boutique. Sorry Lovy, but pehle pet-pooja, baaki kaam duja.

The first thing to appear on our table was a wonderous glass of Chocolate Shake topped with whipped cream and marshmallows drizzled with chocolate syrup. Honestly, the shake looked like it had been crafted by the hands of the Almighty. I nearly fainted at the heavenly taste of the whipped cream; there was no way I would have been able to handle the chocolate milk itself.

While we gulped down the chocolate shake, Jayati tried their newest Green Apple and Black Currant Slush. I took a sip and in a tiny second, my childhood passed by my eyes. It tasted just like those fruit flavored candies!

That one glass circulated from girl to girl as we moaned our oohs and aahs at the colourful liquid.

The next thing to devour was something called a Panzerotti. Well, I have a teensy bit of a problem. I like to pronounce Italian and French food names in the accent. So here I was, putting all my fingers together and yelling, ‘Pan-zuh-roh-tti!’ pretending to be a stereotypical Italian. Please don’t stop being friends with me.

I picked up a fork and knife to cut pieces out for us.

“You need to bite into it,” said Priya.

That was the first time I had ever seen Komal diving into the food. Eat like there’s no tomorrow.

The Panzerotti looked like their version of the Pizza McPuff. The filling contained mozzarella, onion, and capsicum. The ooey-gooey cheese was more than delicious. Although, a little marinara sauce in the pockets would’ve made the dish top-notch.

Our quirky blogger Jayati thought that the tomato ketchup was the meethi chutney you get with samosas and kachoris [insert laughing emoji]. Oh, Jayati! *flicks a tear out of intense laughter *

What I bit into next, felt like nirvana. Three words, say it, and I’m yours. ‘Pesto Cheese Shots.’ Amazing choux pastry cups (sorry, my inner master chef is showing), filled with basil pesto and topped with my babe, mozzarella. The texture of the pastry shots was amazing. Crumbly on the outside with a melt-in-the-mouth feel. Since, this was your dish, Varun, hats off to you.

What’s an Italian meal without pasta and pizza? We tasted the Pasta Barbaresca made of Penne and the most amazing and creamy sauce I’ve ever had. Sorry Penne Alforno from Skyler’s, but I think we should see other people. The pasta contained broccoli which I am particularly not a fan of, but the sauce made me fall in love with the vegetable I hated once.

After we had wiped the Barbaresco sauce off our plates (With garlic bread. Who needs tissues? Pfft!), we were introduced to the Tobasco Pizza. Perfectly thin and crunchy crust with the right amount of tobasco, cheese, and veggies. Komal and I were gorging on the crispy slice while Jayati was not very fond of the of tobasco. I guess this was her first time tasting tobasco. *Sigh *

The next dish was what I would describe as the perfect fusion. The Punjabi Wrap was beautiful in every way. A beautiful flour tortilla rolled with paneer, aloo tikki, onion, capsicum, iceberg lettuce and tandoori sauce served with a side of potato wedges cooked to a crisp perfection.

All the food had filled up my tummy, but I had some place left for a dessert. Hehe! A plate of Nutella Pancakes (New-tell-uh or Nuh-tell-uh?) If the pancakes were a person, I would marry those pancakes. Although I had actually expected to find big fluffy pancakes, the fact had to be kept in mind that it was made entirely out of vegetarian ingredients just every other dish in the café. (Win-win situation for me) That aside, I enjoyed the crepe-like feel it had to it. The saltiness in the pancake blended perfectly with the sweetness of the hazelnut spread.

“I am already full,” Lavanya said in the beginning.

Sure, I believe you.

To conclude, the service was prompt and perfect. The serving portions were enough to fill our foodie tummies and properly plated. The prices are pocket-friendly and will cost you less than Rs. 800 for two people. And, the food is packed with flavor, of course!

After food, we posed for a picture with Team Bag Your Rag and Sanchit joined in with us handing the camera to Jayati. Surprising to see a photographer letting someone touch his camera, teehee!

We left with both a heavy stomach and heart taking in all the aroma of the food one last time. Bag Your Rag is the perfect to fulfill both your hunger and shopping cravings.

I don’t know about the girls, but I will be back soon to fill my tummy up.

Much love,

XOXO
