Dear Google, We Ogle At You In Hopelessness. It’s Time You #RedefineWomen

English has become a basic part of our lives. While people around the world are divided by their native language, English connects them on a common ground.

The language has evolved over the centuries and so has the dictionary yet many terms in the dictionary are still used in blatantly sexist ways. Two Australian women, Georgia Patch and Kiah Nicholas, are bashing Google for using definitions from Oxford dictionary, most of which show misogynistic sentence samples. The duo started a project called #RedefineWomen as a social movement. They take screenshots of such examples and share it on ,  , and .

It makes my blood boil to see people stereotype women with certain words. Like the term ‘Shrill’ for example. Why is it associated with a woman’s pitch? I think it is about time we redefine the perception the society has of women.

Here are some of the words they have used in their project:

Hey @google help us make cooking, cleaning and sewing gender neutral. #redefinewomen #womensequality #womensequalityday2016 #womensequalityday
