When Deepika Padukone spoke about her depression on national television some time back, the common man could relate to her at a human-level. Now Hollywood’s Emma Watson is sharing her experience of dealing with anxiety.
The Harry Potter actress told Vogue UK, “When I was younger, I just did it. I just acted. It was just there. So now when I receive recognition for my acting, I feel incredibly uncomfortable. I tend to turn in on myself, I feel like an imposter.”
It might be hard to believe that the woman who is now UN’s Women’s #HeForShe movement ambassador once suffered from anxiety and low self-esteem – problems a lot of women face.
She even admitted feeling ‘terrified’ before giving one of the #HeForShe speeches. Whoa, and she never let that show on her face ever. Bravo.
Emma shared her trick to overcome such feelings whenever they resurface. She said she asks herself questions: “If not me, who? If not now, when?”, whenever she is in doubt.
The full version of her interview will be published in the September issue of Vogue.
