Somebody on Quora asked – “What is a secret which you would not tell anybody in real life, but would on Quora using anonymity?

To which, an anonymous user answered giving a real life example. Sadly, the instance was from his life.

He wrote:

“It was just another usual day, my sister and me at home, we had an off that day. Mom and Dad had been out. Everything was fine, but little did we know this day would turn out to be the most dreaded day of our lives.

My aunt’s place was just a few minutes away from our house. My little sister used to go to our aunt’s place often; she used to watch her cook, learn new recipe’s (Aunt is an excellent cook), Laugh and play with younger cousins and Uncle.

So that day, she told me she was going to Aunt’s place, and happily left. I was watching TV when suddenly I hear my little sister run in.. Gasping for breath, with eyes full of tears. She collapsed on the floor and sat straight with her back to the wall. I had no idea what happened, I immediately took a glass of water and ran to her. She drank the water like she’d never seen water before. I was worried; she soon calmed down, and all she did was stare at me. She looked right into my eyes, and I could see the fear she had in her eyes. All this, I didn’t ask her anything. I knew something really terrible had happened. Soon she spoke, She said to me “Akku.. Uncle..” (She calls me Akku)

I didn’t quite understand what she was trying to tell. Her voice had gone down so low, I could barely hear.. I asked what happened to him.

She then told me Uncle touched her inappropriately. She froze, He tried to assault her sexually, but she ran away from there as fast as she could.

All while she was telling me what had happened, I was in a complete state of shock and fuming angry. Our Uncle, whom we loved and respected the most. How could he even think about doing this? The sad part was, He had two daughters who were younger than my sister.

Me and my little sister sat on the floor. Not knowing what to do, where to go, in a state of shock. We were just 17 and 16. She asked me not to tell this to anyone, not ever our mom and dad. She was already going through a lot; I didn’t want to argue. I agreed as she trusted me. But I didn’t decide to leave it at that.

My uncle usually goes for his early morning jog. This was the perfect time to catch him alone. So even I decided to leave around the same time, there aren’t usually many people out that early.

When I saw him jogging, I stopped him from the opposite direction.

He saw me and told me “Oh, It’s you. Why did your sister run away? I was having a really nice time.” Upon hearing this, I lost it. I punched him right in the face with all my power. His tooth fell out, He fell on the road, my fist was bleeding. He was shocked; he never thought A guy like me, who always respected and listened to what he had to say, would do this. I was not done. I went up to him, pulled him with his shirt and punched him in his face a few more times, harder than ever. I was sure I broke his nose. He laid there. On the road, with his hands on his face. I left the spot immediately. I didn’t know what happened after that.

Later that day, my mother gets a call from my Aunt saying that Uncle is in the hospital. She said to my mom that he had a fractured nose, and few stitches on the face, he tripped and fell down on the road. Well, that’s what my Uncle told everyone, he didn’t dare to say my name.

I was in my room, my sister came running to me and told me what had happened to Uncle. I could see a sign of satisfaction in her. She said that God had taken care of him for being so cruel. I didn’t tell anything; I just replied with a yes.

A few days later, after Uncle was discharged, there was a time when we all had to go over. This time, He didn’t dare even to look at my sister let alone come close to her. He was scared of my sister. She was confused, She came to me, saw my bruised fists. She asked me what happened. I told her I had got it while playing football. She hugged me tight and said “You are my God, aren’t you?” She had understood what really had happened.

I promised her that he would never again think about repeating this to her or any other girl.

This is a story that only me, my sister, and the guy whom we once called Uncle know about.

Also, I would like to tell that, I’ve read many answers on Quora with people going through similar issues and not telling anyone about it. Please if any guy or girl are going through situations like this, DO NOT STAY MUM. Let someone who is really close to you know about it. Don’t hide it because it was your uncle, dad or even brother who assaulted you, if they really loved you, they would never do such a thing. I wish you all out there Strength and peace.

Whoa, isn’t this answer raising more questions? Like, why kids are too afraid to speak up their minds. Why is child abuse considered a shameful thing to happen to a child?
