After reading this article, you might question yourself ‘Dafuq did I just read?’
Our Union culture and tourism minister Mahesh Sharma was in Agra yesterday when he went to the Taj Mahal meeting women foreign tourists to tell them they should NOT wear skirts and other “skimpy” clothes. Because “safety”.
Dafuq.
Speaking to the reporters, he said, “For their own safety, women foreign tourists should not wear short dresses and skirts… Indian culture is different from the western culture.”
What’s more? He went on to say that women tourists should refrain themselves from going out alone at night. Because, “safety”. He said, “Girls wanting a night out may be all right elsewhere, but it is not part of Indian culture.”
Dafuq.
No, this is not all. He also told them to keep the sensitivity of Indian culture in mind while visiting the temples of Mathura and Vrindavan. He said, “We have not given any specific instructions regarding what they should wear or not wear. We are asking them to take precaution while going out at night. We are not trying to change anyone’s preference.”
‘Given them instruction???????’ Who the hell are we to tell them what to pack in their suitcases?
BTW, who gave him the right to ruin our country’s image? Dear tourists, we are none of those statements. I am glad how the Twitter world is responding:
@dr_maheshsharma @IndianEmbassyUS @MEAIndia @BJP4India @BJPLive @DDNewsLive @PIB_India why shake hands? Namaskar is the Indian culture !!

@dr_maheshsharma The innocent girl is wearing a skirt!! Did you not warn her or her parents??!!

Mahesh Sharma is skirting the issue; truth is he has de-marketed India by his ridiculous advisory on a dress code for women.
