We Should Applaud Alicia Keys For Her No Make Up Trend!

Sometimes, I can’t decide whether applying makeup is empowering or it is the other way around.

Well, Alicia Keys kind of cleared the haze in my head by showing up without makeup at the VMA’s’16.

Embracing inner beauty is a redundant concept which has been around for quite some time now.

Alicia is espousing this concept with all her might. This is totally inspiring as hundreds of girls feel ‘less’ or ‘inadequate’ without makeup.

Going barefaced, that too, to an Awards’ ceremony takes guts. How do these women gather the courage to do so?

Keys wrote in May: “I hope to God it’s a revolution. ‘Cause I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”

Her story of how she ended up with the no-makeup look is also very endearing and interesting to hear.

Her photographer, Paola Kudacki wanted to capture pictures of Alicia as soon as she was out of the gym! What was supposed to be a maniacal experiment in photography turned out to be an amazing change that is slowly taking over the world or at least we hope it is.

Sadly, there are some idiots out there who are criticizing for her decision not to wear any make-up!

Why. Why. Why.

No matter what, her fans tweeted some snarky and on-point replies to the haters choking her virtually!

It is her life and her choices. Who are you to judge her for what she does? Being in showbiz does not always entail that you have to be caked with layers and layers of makeup.

However, we all are into supporting Alicia for keeping it real. And for those of you who think Alicia was wearing makeup and was not claiming to, you can go and just….just GO.
