Jaipur has become the hub for various exhibitions and shows. Amongst the most popular ones are the fashion and lifestyle exhibitions held in the city. But, the organizers of Aamelia Exhibitions, Shreya Mittal, and Puja Garg, beg to differ.
Puja Garg who has been organizing Amara Exhibitions in Lucknow for many years told JWB, “Shreya is my sister’s daughter and she told me about the potential and yet untapped market here. We researched a lot and decided to go for it.”
The Ahmedabad-native, Shreya, got married in Jaipur, last November, “Here people have purchasing power and are willing to pay, but they don’t get variety and the high-end fashion range of the designers. And, it’s not possible to go to Delhi, each time we want to shop.”
“This is why we are bringing in the designers who have either never been to Jaipur or have exhibited just once or twice here,” said Shreya.
Puja added, “We are not in competition with anyone. Everyone has a specific market, and we are here to create our own niche.”
The USP of Aamelia is that it is encouraging and promoting handlooms and hand-woven fabrics. “Most of our exhibitors deal in hand woven fabrics or the rich fabrics, as we know them. And, we are drawing in only the elite. We want them to explore and take in the feel of our designers’ work and quality,” told Puja.
When I asked about the name, “Aamelia,” Shreya explained, “Aamelia means hardworking and youthful. And, it’s a feminine name. I was researching for the name, and this just struck.”
“Also, we wanted something that reflects contemporary style, too, in the name itself.”
The exhibitors’ list of the designers include names like Myra by Anju Narain, Devnaagri, am: pm by Ankur and Priyanka Modi, Mayank Anand Shraddha Nigam, Amit Sanger & Megha Sanger, Charu Parashar.
For exclusive bed linen collection, Lush Hommes by Sabina Mago is highly recommended by Puja Garg.
“If you are looking for something chic, stylish, yet casual, you should check out Moksh and Threads, and Amberr,” suggested Shreya.
Under accessories, Jewels by Queenie Singh will showcase handcrafted jewelry and statement pieces, and Creato and House of Shikha are popular names for funky jewelry.
To quirk up your wardrobe and accessories, don’t miss Sevya by Pranali Mittal. And, guess what? Cauldron Sisters, our absolute favorites would also be taking a cupcake workshop at Aamelia Exhibitions.
