Designer Of Lady Obama, Sophie Theallet Writes An Open Letter Refusing To Dress Melania Trump
- JWB Post

The people who do not support Donald Trump and disapprove of him taking the post as the President are openly registering their disappointment.
This time, designer Sophie Theallet who has dressed Michelle Obama in the past and garnered much appreciation for designing clothes inspired by her has stated that she won’t be dressing up Melania Trump.
On Thursday, i.e. November 18, Sophie posted an open letter on Twitter imploring the fashion industry to protest Trump by not designing or creating the incoming first Lady, Melania.
She wrote:
“The Sophie Theallet brand stands against all discrimination and prejudice. Our runway shows, ad campaigns, and celebrity dressing have always been a celebration of diversity and a reflection of the world we live in.
I am well aware it is not wise to get involved in politics. That said, as a family-owned company, our bottom line is not just about money. We value our artistic freedom and always humbly seek to contribute to a more humane, conscious, and ethical way to create in this world.”
She also praised Michelle Obama’s values, actions, and grace, and mentioned that dressing her was an honor and a highlight of her career. And, here’s what she had to say for the Trumps.
“As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady. The rhetoric of racism, sexism, and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by. I encourage my fellow designers to do the same.”
“Integrity is our only true currency,” she concluded.
