Stereotypical Gender Labels At Work Are Real! Have You Been Tagged Too?
- JWB Discussion
- January 18, 2017
According to a recent study, more than 50 % of UK’s female entrepreneurs have encountered stereotypical gender labels.
The NatWest research has found out that women are being often called “opinionated”, “feisty”, and “vocal.”
What?
How can one label such tags according to gender? This research might have been conducted in UK but it certainly holds true for other countries as well, including ours.
Apart from fighting cultural, practical and office politics issues, these words that are used to describe female entrepreneurs owning to reductive gender stereotypes are unnecessarily increasing problems for women at work.
It’s high time we shun gender labels. Share in the comments below what have you been called at work and how do you fight it.
