Most of us are familiar with this phrase from TVF Pitchers. Lately, the number of women in the technology ‘Startup’ sector has noticeably been growing, and JWB couldn’t help but smell a new fish in the sea of apps.

IFlit

This app is the first platform that provides authentic information on live scenes. Now, reviews can be misleading, and you don’t always know when the crowd is right, or if the special of the day will suit your appetite. You might not always find information on the happy hours of the day, and that’s where comes in.

The app connects you with the places you want to visit in real time. Upon sending a request to the restaurant, it will inform you about the ‘meal of the day’, ‘available seating’, ‘kind of crowd’ at the place, and in short, the whole ‘scene’!

I met the three founders Deepti Bagga, Yash Bagga and Hemant Chauhan over at Deepti’s house. The trio has been experimenting with Jaipur as of now and is soon carrying the app to Tier 1 cities.

Yay! Well, the app is being used by 570 users in Jaipur alone, as of now. 45 places have signed up to be a part of the scene.

Idea

Yash tells me it’s a funny story: I was in Goa with a bunch of pals. I’d heard a lot about this club called ‘Curlys.’ It is really a very happening club in Goa. I kept insisting my friends that we desperately needed to visit that club, and they finally gave in. When we reached there, it was more or less empty. My friends were like umadbro?

This happened twice, and that’s when I wondered, why can’t something always keep us informed what’s happening in the world outside, all in real time? Why can’t we know What’s The Scene? And that’s how the idea of IFlit came about.

Woman In Technology

Deepti told us: I was very young when I got married and had a child. When my daughter was five months old, my husband and I had split up. After my divorce, I wanted to do something for myself, even though I wasn’t sure if it would work, it was worth taking the leap. It’s lovely to be a part of a startup.

My job in the team is to make sure that the privacy of all individuals is thoroughly respected.

Five Years Later

Hemant: Five years later, Mark bhaiya will call us to acquire it.

Me: Mark bhaiya?

Deepti: He’s referring to Mark Zuckerberg.

Yash: Well, we have this thing set in our minds that one day Mark bhaiya will call us!

Me: Please ask him to introduce an ‘unlike’ feature on Fb!

The trio has separately worked in different fields and has found harmony in working with one another, though, things always aren’t jubilant!

Worst fight ever

Yash: So we wanted to introduce a new feature called ‘wall’ on our app, though, we didn’t do it because even though Hemant and I were on board, Deepti di refused, saying that it could be a problem with the privacy of women.

Deepti: They wanted to create chatrooms for every place. However, the chat rooms were only accessible by people present at the restaurant/club. It would work as a kind of cool dating feature plus a nice new way to socialize. I was genuinely worried about the privacy and thought it was too early to introduce the segment.

Hemant: She was upset with us for a couple of days, and we worked on a middle ground, and now the feature will be added in the coming few months.

Me: That’s actually remarkably interesting.
