JLF Day 4: While We Loved Mallika Dua, It Was Suhel Seth’s Body-Shaming Remark That Disappointed Us

If there was one session I was excited about on day 4 of Jaipur Literature Festival, it was #Nofilter session with Mallika Dua which was moderated by Suhel Seth.
The session was jam-packed and everyone was curious to know more about India’s coolest comedian.
However, it was disappointing to see that at a platform like JLF, a moderator was so unprepared and seemed utterly uninterested. And, what irked me, even more, was his poor taste of humor where he body-shamed Mallika and made fun of her Bengali teacher.
“How do boys pick you up? Of course, not physically, because that would be very difficult for them, but you know….,” he said.
But, Mallika is not an easy trap, and she gave him a fitting reply.
“Excuse me, I pick up boys, ok!” she said in her distinctive tone.
And, when Mallika told him about her Bengali Teacher named, Baisaakhi ma’am, Suhel Seth commented in distaste, “Was she born on baisaakhi?”
Mallika schooled Suhel and said, “She is my jigar. No jokes on her.”
But, let’s not steal away the attention from Mallika who won our hearts with her cute, honest, and definitely, no filter talk at JLF.
Who’s Mallika Dating?
Mallika Dua did burst a bubble and said in like capital words, “I AM NOT DATING TANMAY BHAT!”
And, guess what? She also revealed that her boyfriend is in Delhi, “and he’ll be soon flying off to San Francisco,” she said with a puppy face.
Ahhh, we all know that feel Mallika!
When Suhel asked her how did she fell in love with him, she laughed, “Well, I fell in love with him because he’s not an a**hole.”
“I mean I have dated like a lot of them before. We all have gone through that phase, right?”
*fervently nodding*
Does Mallika have a conscience?
“No. I don’t! I would be a priestess if I had a conscience.”
How intelligent is Rahul Gandhi?
“I’ll give 5! Waise, I don’t know much about politics because I am busy snapchatting, facebooking, and trolling people who troll me.”
Will she be doing a movie?
“I want to be Fawad Khan’s leading actress in a movie.” she exclaimed.
“I’ll cross the borders if I have to.”
When asked about the types of films she would like to do, she said, “I do want to act in films but not as a heroine ki chubby saheli,” she added, “I want to do characters like Tommy Singh of Udta Punjab, or Haider.”
After attending Mallika’s session, I can say one thing for sure: She is as real as her videos.
