Read Why Irrfan Khan Said To JWB: ‘I’m NOT A Hero’

So, I just discovered that Irrfan Khan belonged to Jaipur, I won’t lie, but it gave me some hopes. It’ll be pretty cool if another actor also emerged extremely successful (from Jaipur). Yes, I can be an actress, heh.
Until today, I had never imagined meeting Irrfan Khan. I mean, maybe I had, but my imagination was only limited to stalking his car somewhere in Bombay and just getting a glimpse of his elbow. But, unexpected things happen, and there I was at Sizzlin Scissors, right in front of him.
Khan was in Jaipur to promote his upcoming film, Madaari. The movie is a social thriller that focuses on the working of the Indian political system. It is based on a true story. Most usually, Irrfan Khan’s movies are logical and encapsulate the reality that we may never have faced. So, let’s leave the storyline a suspense for you.
His humbleness pleasantly surprised me! I wanted to go say hello to him, but the bodyguards and other fans & reporters were blocking my way! Lucky for them, I ain’t a Mary Kom. Mr. Irrfan Khan remembered to embrace the Rajasthani in him and wore a beautiful and classy Nehru jacket with Rajasthani patterns. Um, his smile was also kinda infectious.
After reading gazillion rumors about the controversy on Madaari imitating Rajnikanth’s movie poster, we finally got some first-hand answers. Irrfan said, “It was a fan-made poster. I truly admire and respect Rajnikanth Ji and his work.”
Komal and I managed to dig out some facts about his family life and his perception of heroism, too:
Sakshi: I stalked your Twitter account and found out that you’d recently taken a break from work to spend some quality time with your son. So, how do you manage balanced parenting while you have a busy schedule?
Irrfan Khan: The reality is that in today’s time it is not us, busy parents who need to take time out for their children. It is the children who are busy. There are times when I have to tell my sons to sit with me and talk because communication is necessary for any family. Nowadays, the world has started celebrating Father’s Day and Mother’s Day. It’s a good way for parents to bond with their children, so, I took my sons to the Sabarmati Ashram and taught them something about the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Komal: In an interview, you had stated that youth icons should not be cricketers or actors. In fact, in your movie you hold the belief that every common man is a hero. What according to you qualifies someone to be a hero and who do you believe represents true heroism?
Irrfan Khan: That’s right! Every common man is a hero. A hero is someone who is selfless, someone who tries to save others and is compassionate towards them. We are merely actors, who try to keep you entertained.
Well said, Irrfan! The movie releases on July 15th. Are you going to watch it?
