Stop Judging Female Politicians On The Basis Of Their Clothes

So now that we all know, that it’s Hillary vs. Donald for the race of the US President, here’s some information that you might have missed in the build-up to the declaration of their candidature.
This little bit of information will make you realize that how in spite of talking gender equality and women empowerment, we are making the same mistakes again and again.
The day Clinton was scheduled to officially accept her candidature and make her historic speech at the Democratic National Convention, the top questions trending on Google about the presidential candidate was “What will Hillary wear tonight?”
So there’s no curiosity of what she would have said about her policies or the way she would have talked about her governance plans. All that people thought relevant was the clothes that she would be wearing.
But, if instead of Hillary, it was her husband Bill, I doubt that there would have been any talk about what he would wear while giving his speech.
This shows that no matter what her achievements are as a presidential candidate or the future president of America, Hillary would always be judged by her appearance because she is a woman.
And, it’s not only Hillary, other women politicians, too, face the same issue with the media and the world who focus more on their purses and ‘political bobs’ than the work that they do.
Sorry to say this, folks, but this attitude has to end. It’s about time that we look beyond the appearances of women in high public places and understand that all our talks of gender quality will remain fruitless if we don’t use the same benchmark for both male and female politicians.
And only when the day arrives when instead of being fixated on her attire, the world discusses and criticizes the policies formulated by Hillary Clinton, we could say that politics have finally come of age.
