The Claims Made By This Lawyer About Nirbhaya’s Case Are Apalling

ML Sharma just proved what appalling depths some people could stoop to. If you are wondering about the identity of this despicable man called Sharma, all you need to know that he is the lawyer of one of the accused in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case.

Now, does he being the lawyer of one of the people who raped and brutalized Nirbhaya in horrific ways make him despicable? No.

The constitution allows every person however heinous his crime may be to avail the services of a lawyer. So by defending the accused doesn’t make him despicable. What makes him disgusting is the ways Sharma is trying to prove that his ‘client’ is innocent, even it means introducing unrealistic theories and passing horrible and inconsiderate comments about Nirbhaya and her friend.

In one of his latest rants in the court, Sharma said that the Nirbhaya gang-rape a political conspiracy and that Nirbhaya’s friend, who boarded that bus on the fateful day of December 16, 2012, had paid off the accused to pull off the crime.

After reading this, if you are still in a mood to hear any of Sharma’s other theories then you should know that according to Sharma, the main accused in the case Ram Singh took money from Nirbhaya’s friend and ‘political leaders’ to rape and murder Nirbhaya. He has also said that it is not true that a rod was used to brutalize Nirbhaya by the accused and has said that this theory is made up.

Now, being a lawyer, it is Sharma’s job to defend his client but by churning out impossible theories and leveling baseless allegations against the person who was almost murdered in one of the most horrific crimes in the history of mankind, is not only disgusting, it is almost a crime in itself.

Thankfully, the Supreme Court too has been quick to spot the absurdity in the claims made by Sharma and has said that such baseless allegations cannot be permitted and just because Sharma is being heard, it doesn’t mean that he could say anything.

It would be quite fair to say that in the process of making these claims, Sharma has shown his true nature too and the kind of person that he is. That’s the only good thing to come out of his courtroom rants.
