The dangerous and harmful effects of Air Pollution are known to all. However, like most things, we have become negligent towards the havoc we are causing to the environment.
Now, with Delhi’s air pollution rising to the alarmingly dangerous levels, people has started taking it seriously. And, there’s no denial that the major cause of air pollution is the fuel operated vehicles. So, how to control it?
Well, a school student, from Bhubaneshwar, Priyanka Panda, has come up with an innovative technology that can make people aware about fuel wastage.
The President awarded Priyanka the 2016 IGNITE award which is a national competition of original technological innovations. Children of 17 years of age or below can only enroll in the competition.
The technology that’s she has devised uses a monitor that is set up next to the odometer. This monitor would display a warning message to alert the driver about the wastage of fuel and how it is adding to the air pollution.
Priyanka said in an interview, “Most of the time while traveling, people do not care to turn off the car’s engine when at the red light or short halts. This releases harmful pollutants into the air and wastes fuel. So, I thought of ways in which this could be prevented.”
Priyanka also shared about her plan to share this innovation with leading vehicle manufacturers.
JWB congratulates Priyanka for winning the prestigious award and applauds her for coming up with such a technological innovation to curb air pollution. Kudos!
