This Cyclist’s Son Hugging Her Was A Larger Victory Than The Gold Medal At Rio

The Rio Olympics 2016 are indeed teaching us a lot about sportsmanship. It was on Wednesday when during the women’s cycling road individual, Kristin Armstrong’s nose started bleeding.

The U.S. cyclist had won at the Beijing games in 2008, at London in 2012. She had taken a break to handle her multiple hip surgeries. So yeah, she was going through a lot of struggle.

The 43-year-old gave everything she could, to win the competition. When she finally passed the finish line, she still wasn’t quite sure if she’d made it!

“Did I win?” was her first question! she crossed the finish line at 44:26:42. She’d beaten the nearest competitor by six seconds.

Post this, she fell to the ground. See how she hugs her son in this picture. He sure looks like he’s proud of her. She’s overwhelmed, clearly! with this win, she’s become the first American woman to have claimed Gold thrice in the same event.
