This Is How Designer Aanchal Mittal Found Passion Amidst Clothing

Success can come at any age. JWB met this young designer who is determined to get her success pretty soon. We’re talking about the 20-something Aanchal Mittal.

When she was in grade 7, she began sketching. The universe supported her then yet-to-figure-out desire by sending her to a college where Fashion Designing was a compulsory course. But because she knew only sketching and wasn’t good at coloring and stitching, the dark cloud of doubt made her believe ‘it’s not her thing.’

However, life took a turn when this girl won a fashion designing competition organized by her college (Good Shepherd Finishing School, Ooty).

Aanchal exclaims, “It was an accomplishment. Thanks to my close friends back in college who helped me learn the tailoring skills I was afraid of.”

Aanchal returned to Jaipur, all geared up to begin a career in fashion. She made it a point to visit her family business (a garment export business) and to see what she can create using the unused cloth. To get the feedback, the then 22-year-old would wear these ‘impromptu experiments’ only to see how her young modern friends react.

Filled with confidence, Aanchal borrowed Rs. 30,000 from her father with a promise to return the investment back once she earns some profit. She created about 30 pieces of printed maxis, skirts, and crop tops. Before taking it to the market, she was surprised when her adorable family and friends bought ‘em all.

She giggled, “That day I told myself firmly I am going to take this passion forward. So, I established a brand, started promoting it on social media and asked my girlfriends to model for me. Because, why not?”

Her brand ‘’ has quirky fun prints that one can flaunt while summer-holidaying. Aanchal says, “I am a prints’ person. I also love working on two-tone and textured fabrics. That’s my specialty. This year, though, you will see me experimenting with collared and asymmetric neck designs.”

What’s even better about her brand? You can find fashionable pieces starting from Rs. 500 only!
