What’s ‘Steaming’ Inside Taj Rambagh? Last Night, JWB Girls Went On The Mission!

While Jaipur is crushing over the cafes for their innovative cutlery like wood logs, clothing irons, syringes, and beakers & test tubes from the science labs, city’s one of the oldest hotels Taj Rambagh is winning the spotlight for serving its guests inside the train bogies! The BK 4, as it is named, once used to run around the City of Joy – Kolkata. Some hundred years ago, to be precise.

Last night, Team JWB was invited to Taj Rambagh Palace’s restaurant STEAM to taste the new additions into their Mediterranean cuisine. Clearly, we were excited!

Before we could put our jaws to work, Mr. Manish Goyal, Assistant Director F&B, took us for a stroll around the property.

It was a soothing experience looking at the yellow lights falling on the palace, looking shyly at the vast green lawns. Mr. Manish later took us to STEAM restaurant which is compiled of three bogies and a closed space with a beautiful Middle Eastern architecture, covered in bright Turkish tones.

To begin with, we were served some sparkling wine with fruit punches. Called the Orange Mint Spritzer and Watermelon Basil Spritzer, the two drinks tasted promising. Being a big fan of Wine, both Mansi and I were super quick to drink six glasses of Spritzers before the feast arrived.

Not an alcohol fan? No worries, their non-alcoholic drinks are worth a try, too!

Talking about the vegetarian starters, Mansi enjoyed the Falafel wrap, Sigara Borek, and Hummus bi tahini and pita bread.

I, for one, patiently waited for my Harissa spiced chicken wings.

For the lovers of seafood, I braved myself out and tasted Fritto Misto (fried prawn, fish, and calamari with garlic aioli) and Fish n chips (crumb fried basa fillet with jalapeno tartare sauce served with potato wedges). Guess what; I am a fan of basa now!

Psst, did I mention that STEAM holds pride in serving the best wood-oven Pizzas in the city? The warm team at Rambagh served us:

Steam special – chicken tikka, mint, and coriander

Steam special pizza

Verdura – broccoli, zucchini, asparagus, and jalapeno

If your mommy and daddy are against eating junk, make them hog on these. I was surprised to see the elder generation flocking in to enjoy these classic pizzas along with their grandkids. STEAM has got a pretty impressive menu of pizzas with varieties of toppings to choose from.

Interestingly, STEAM’s food menu is written in the railway-language. For example, the starters are called ‘Green Signal,’ Pizzas are called ‘Legendary Steam Locomotives,’ Pastas are known as ‘Meter Gauge,’ and the desserts, well, are the ‘Final Stop.’

How was our final stop? See for yourself!

From Tiramisu to Ommali and Cheese cake, they made sure we go home counting calories.

I strongly recommend you to try their Spritzers, Sigara Borek, Harissa spiced chicken wings and any pizza of your choice. For dessert, Ommali was the best!
