Beware, Story Of Roshini Sharma Will Rekindle Your Wanderlust!

Sipping coffee on a hot Sunday afternoon and reading about the girl who went on a Solo Bike Trip, wanderlust captivates me yet again. The traveler in me is poking me incessantly, sighs!

The 27-year old Roshini Sharma’s lone trip from Kanyakumari to Leh will incite you to leave everything behind, just pack your stuff and go explore the world.

She, being an engineer, otherwise planned and prepared for the trip 7-8 months before her travel, convinced her parents, bought a bike, learnt its handling and worked for her fitness. Well, this was just a warm-up for the life-altering and inspiring journey she was to embark on.

Travelling across 11 states, surpassing towering mountains, terrains, dangerous glaciers and altitudinous passes like Rohtang, Sarchu, Pang and Tangalangla on her bike may seem like an out-of-movie scenario, but in real it is strenuous and challenging.

Roshini reminisces on being homesick and lonesome on her darkest days,

“I cried, I had everything in my life – loving parents, friends and a good job. What else was I looking for in life with this ride?”

But here’s what she has to say to the women of the world,

“Biking is my passion and by taking this expedition, I want to spread a message among women, especially young girls, to come out of social taboos and live a free life.”

Wow! I am exhilarated to say the least.

But her response to accomplishing her goal and reaching Leh is elevating and aspiring.

“I felt fearless. There is nothing in this world that I feel I can’t achieve.”

More Power to you, girl!!!
