When life gives you lemons, give them to girls and let them draw boobs around them!

Didn’t like the word ‘boobs’? Are you making a weird face right now? Does it look like a lemon?

Sorry, I am not trying to be hilarious but want to convey a message of how, most of us, aren’t accustomed to hear words like breasts, boobs and vagina. I mean, they are our very own body parts for god’s sake!!

October is the month celebrated worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness month. Also known as Pinkotober, JWB’s team decided to commemorate it this year with an activity at Arch Academy of Design.

The name of our campaign is ‘Lemon Face’ – solely mocking at those who make lemon-like faces when they hear the word ‘breast’. And why is it that important to speak and listen about the mangoes? Because, unless we won’t speak up and discuss it with our girls, how will they ever get to learn about medical conditions like breast cancer?

JWB went to the ARCH Academy and asked its 30 girls to participate in the fun campaign. These girls were fashion designing students with quite a willful knowledge of fashion and art.

We asked them to pick 2 lemons each along with a white sheet. They were guided to cut two holes right in the middle of the sheet, representing their breasts, big enough to fit in the two lemons.

Next, the main idea was described to them. “You have to create a stylish bra/bralette/corset around these lemony-breasts using colors, ribbons, sequences, gota-patti, whatever you can lay hands onto”, I said.

Listening to which a little murmur and sheepish smiles began.

Priyanka announced in a thundering voice, “Now start already! You’ve got only 30 mins.”

“But this isn’t a competition. Is it?” confirmed Nupur, the photographer.

Priyanka, smiling wickedly, exclaimed, “They are students and have to be given a deadline. This also instills a vibe to do better and quickly than other in them, you see!”

Quickly, the girls brought out their pencils, colors, scissors and ‘whatever they could lay hands onto’ inside their life-size handbags.

From putting stone-work in bras…

…to lots of glittering sequence work, they did it all to make give it a sexy look!

Some even used various fabrics to design their crop tops and bras!

In the end, we made them pose with the ‘breasts and bras’, making a lemon face sarcastic teasing those who don’t like talking about breasts. Enjoy looking at their uncanny faces and revise your attitude towards ‘women’s body parts’. Okay? Okay.
