On Wednesday, countries were ranked on the basis of Gender Equality. Can you guess at what position India stood?

While Iceland topped the list, India was ranked 87th. Although, the rank is low, but it shows a massive improvement in the condition from that of previous years. India has jumped 21 places from last year where it stood at 108th position, owing to the progress made in education.

In the Annual Global Gender Gap index compiled by Geneva-based World Economic Forum, India ranked 108. The parameters that were used in making the list were the economy, education, health and political representation.

Although in education, India has managed to close its gap entirely in primary and secondary education, much needs to be done in the economic frontier where it ranks 136 out of 144 countries.

On educational attainment, India was ranked at the 113th place; in terms of health and survival, it was a placed at a lowly 142, while on political empowerment it was among the top 10 countries.
