Samagam– the Regional Summit for Persons with Disability was organized by Sarthak Educational Trust on August 30th, 2016 at Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur.

Sarthak Educational Trust is dedicated towards skill development, employment inclusivity, and sustainable development of the specially abled people.

The initiative of the Summit was undertaken by Ms. Alka Batra who serves as the State Advisory Board Member for Sarthak and Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Shri Arun Chaturvedi, Social Justice & Empowerment, Minority Affairs of Rajasthan inaugurated the Summit.

The purpose of the summit was to bring in the light the existing companies that are employing persons with disability and are contributing towards their development so as to encourage other firms to plan and execute a sustainable model of employment for persons with disability (PwD).

A panel discussion was held where the heads of bigwig Companies shared how they made their companies PwD inclusive and friendly.

The esteemed panelists included N.K. Choudhary and Yash Rana from Jaipur Rugs, Sandeep Bhargava, VP, Corporate Affairs, Vodafone India, Prashant Singh, HR Head Lemon Tree, Jaipur, Kapil Sharma of Mahima Group, Jitendra Agrawal, CEO & Founder of Sarthak, and Vikram Joshi of Rangotri.

They also felicitated the specially-abled persons who are already employed or have been offered a letter of employment. Some of them also shared their experiences, and their zeal and enthusiasm were captivating.

I would like to quote, N.K. Choudhary who aptly said, “People with special abilities can do everything that we can’t do.”

The objective of the session was on the same lines as one of the campaigns run by JWB, ‘First Chair’ that highlighted that every PwD has their own set of abilities and they only need the right opportunities and a helping hand to grow, and they will prove their worth.
