Sophia Bush Advocates That Being A Feminist Is Not About Hating Men

Sophia Bush, an American actress, spokesperson, and an activist, in her latest interview, explained why being a feminist doesn’t mean she has to hate men.

The 33-year-old actress, in a HuffPost live conversation, proclaimed of being a feminist. She advocated the fact that a girl should be judged for her work and should be at par with men.

“I watch everybody fight over whether it’s appropriate to be a feminist or not. And I sit here thinking, well, I’m a woman. I would like to be judged on the quality of my work; I would like to be compensated fairly for my work. I would like to have just as much access to healthcare as any man. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I don’t know what the big fight is all about.”

She also revealed that working towards upliftment of women in Hollywood and joining Emma Watson’s feminist book club Our Shared Shelf is enjoyable and gratifying.

She said,

“It always excites me when I find like-minded women in this industry who are working to uplift women. To see Emma trailblazing (this). She’s so young, and she’s so passionate, and that excites me that there’re other women that are really jazzed about this.”

But she also added how it is wrong to hate men or burn bras.

Believing in my right to live as well and as well-protected in the world as a man, doesn’t mean I hate men. And it doesn’t mean I’m going to burn all my bras and throw away all my high heels. I don’t want to be judged for wearing [heels]. I don’t want to be judged for wearing motorcycle boots either. It just feels like there’s so much stuff that gets placed on women that if we truly had the equal opportunity wouldn’t even be in the conversation.”

Be a feminist, not a feminazi!
