Who Is The Perfect Victim? Amy Schumer Calls Out Victim-Blamers

Honestly, I love Amy Schumer’s Humor ( It rhymes! Hehe) I love how she’s so upfront and open with her opinions. Amy Schumer will always be badass if you ask me.

What you’re going to hear now isn’t good. In a recent interview with Marie Claire, Amy talked about her first sexual experience which, by the way, was at the age of 17 and not consensual.

My first sexual experience was not a good one. I didn’t think about it until I started reading my journal again. When it happened, I wrote about it almost like a throwaway. It was like, And then I looked down and realized he was inside me. He was saying, “I’m so sorry” and “I can’t believe I did this,” she said.

Schumer also said that the man is no longer in her life and that she doesn’t feel the need to punish him. “This was 17 years ago. There are just so many factors,” she added: “I had another time with a boyfriend where I was saying, ‘No, stop,’ and it was just completely ignored.”

Schumer also discussed how common that kind of experience is. Although Schumer didn’t specifically identify as a victim, she called out our culture of victim-blaming.

“You know, with the rape survivor, it’s not just shaming, it’s fury,” Schumer said. “It makes people so mad if you’re not a perfect victim.”

In reality, she’s just identified another social issue. So, first, the society blames the victim and then they also expect the victim to be the perfect one? How would you even define a perfect victim? By her level of consciousness? Her age or her clothes? We expect the victim to weep, lose her social life and become a deviant. We expect her to be scared of men for the rest of her life or just end life?

Think again, what makes a victim the perfect victim?
