Who Knew Kheer Could Be Delicious & Healthy At The Same Time

I love it when guests come over to my place. The feeling of having so many relatives around – talking, discussing the old and the new, exchanging affectionate hugs, displaying genuine concern for results/marriage – is so heartwarming!

Come on! Who am I kidding!?

The only/most heartwarming feeling about people coming over comes from the kitchen where Maa cooks her delicious kheer which is otherwise reserved only for special occasions. Nothing, absolutely nothing beats that divine aroma and taste!

Now, I know you might taste kheer from all around the world yet crown your mother/grandmother’s recipe as the winner, but still, I dare to present to you a healthier rendition of the scrumptious delicacy.

So sit back, and relish, while you watch this ‘Oats Kheer’ video from Om Nom Nom:

Ingredients:

Oats- 1 Cup

Milk- 1 Cup

Saffron- 1 Tablespoon

Sugar – 2 Teaspoons

Almonds- 2 Tablespoons

Raisins- 2 Tablespoons

Rose petals- A handful for garnish

Silver leaf – For garnish

Method:

1. Heat the milk and add the saffron to let it infuse.

2. Cook the oats with saffron milk and sugar till it comes to a boil.

3. Garnish with nuts and raisins, silver lead and roses petals.
