Few days back, a differently-abled woman from Maharashtra along with her 3-year-old daughter came to Jaipur in search of work. Unfortunately, her hope turned into a disaster when a couple of men kidnapped and raped the child and left her in a critical condition.

Currently, the girl is in JK Lon Hospital and a team of surgeons are operating on her.

Dr Ashok Gupta, superintendent of JK Lon Hospital told DNA, “We had to perform a couple of operations upon the child as she was brutally assaulted by the adults it seemed. Her genitals and the abdominal areas had suffered major injuries which were grave in nature. For now, she is out of danger and is responding to treatment. Next 24 hours are crucial for us and the baby.”

This rape case is second in a row. That’s why, Rajasthan State Commission for Women (RSCW) chairperson, Suman Sharma, will write a letter to the Supreme Court asking for a strict action against the culprits so that no such crime affects the Pink city in future.

To catch the accused, Suman Sharma has guided the police officials to keep a check on the specially-abled persons, rickshaw pullers lying on the roadsides under the influence of drugs.

She said, “There is hardly any check on these people and they are committing heinous crimes like rape. There should be stricter rules for punishing the rape accused. The legal system in our country that takes a lot of time and these men escape the clutches of severe punishment after 2 to 3 years. I am in a shock after seeing the condition of the girl. The Supreme Court must use its powers to intervene in the case and make amendments for ordering death penalty in such cases. Chief Minister is herself monitoring the progress of the case and I gave her the feedback of the girl’s condition.”
