RIO 2016: Gymnast Dipa Karmakar Qualifies For Vault Finals

The women of India have been doing us proud in the Rio Olympics 2016. Dipa Karmakar, Indian gymnast earned herself a chapter in the history of Indian sports by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the individual vault finals in her debut Olympic Games.
Though she finished 8th in the qualifying round and barely made it there, the Tripura-girl secured 14.850 points in her ‘Produnova’ vault after two attempts.
We were stuck to our TV screens and biting our nails when she had positioned 6th after the third of five subdivisions.
At last, she ranked 8th. The finals are scheduled to be held on August 14th. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
Dipa’s score in the first attempt sat at 7.0 on difficulty and 8.1 in execution.
