These 5 Teachings Of The Bhagwad Gita Will Help Every Entrepreneur Reach Their Goal

JWB stumbled upon these five lessons from the Bhagwad Gita that will help every entrepreneur in the long run.

“KarmanyeVadhikaraste Ma PhaleshuKadachana,
Ma Karma PhalaHeturBhurmaTeySangostvaAkarmani”

We talk about ‘Karma’ all the time, yet we fail to really extract its substantial meaning. Regardless of the outcome, every entrepreneur should focus on their work. We often forget to enjoy the journey in our plight for success. We begin to fear so much that often we fall from our journey, or take the wrong path. Over-excitement doesn’t help either and gives out the same result.

The trick to success is to enjoy the walk, to reach the other end.

“Vasamsi jirnani yatha vihaya, navani grhnati naro ’parani
tatha sarirani vihaya jirnany, anyani samyati navani dehi”

We should be like the water, adapting to any situation and circumstance that may arise. If we are stuck with what we’d aimed for initially, success might stand far from the reality for us. Being stubborn and sticking to the initial goal might get us nowhere.

Every entrepreneur must remember to walk on his path like a traveller who isn’t attached to any city that he visits, but enjoys the overall experience. After all, the only thing constant is change.

“Krodhaadbhavatisammohahsammohaatsmritivibhramah smritibhramshaadbuddhinaashobuddhinaashaatpranashyati ”

Not only entrepreneurs, but we all must also have control over our rage. Remember, it’s one of the seven sins! Anger blocks our ability to think and sometimes makes us do things we never thought we’d do in a million years.

Anger has many disadvantages, one of them being that it makes you lose your focus, it blurs out your clarity towards your goal. Remember, entrepreneurs, never lose focus.

“Tasmad asaktah satatam karyam karma samacara
asakto hy acaran karma param apnoti purushah”

My favourite people are those who are open to new things. However, the Bhagwad Gita asks you of another thing which isn’t so easy. Letting go of any attachment. Even though attachment gives us the strength to love more deeply, it limits us, too. It also makes our journey and growth difficult.

If our desire grows too much, it turns into greed, and greed is what takes us away from our higher calling and dream to innovate.

Though, one shouldn’t be extremely attached to work either, as it makes our journey difficult as entrepreneurs. We should be determined to achieve, but not get obsessed with it.

“Dhumenavriyate vahnir yathadarso malena ca
yatholbenavrto garbhas tatha tenedam avrtam”

This one specifically has the deepest meaning. Everything pure is in a misleading disguise. For example, fire is covered with smoke, which prevents us from nearing it, and similarly, knowledge is covered with a desire that we must ignore, or get rid of.

We must ignore the curtain of desire to imbibe knowledge that will help us grow. This isn’t as easy as it looks but a wise man is one who knows what to avoid and what to select.
